Share Market News Today | Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices Highlights: Domestic indices ended Thursday’s session broadly in green. The NSE Nifty 50 jumped 165.95 points or 0.92% to 18,255.8 and BSE Sensex surged 555.95 points or 0.91% to 61,749.25. In sectoral indices, Bank Nifty skyrocketed 372.75 points or 0.86% to43,685.45, Nifty Financial Services soared 297.1 points or 1.55% to 19,479.35 and Nifty PSU Bank zoomed 51.15 points or 1.23% to 4,194.35. The top gainers on Nifty 50 were Adani Enterprises, Bajaj Finance, HDFC, SBI Life and HDFC Bank while the losers were IndusInd Bank, UPL, Nestle India, Power Grid and ITC.

Benchmark indices NSE Nifty and BSE Sensex ended Thursday’s session broadly in green. “Following a widely expected rate hike by the Fed and consistent foreign support, the domestic equities resumed its bullish momentum, driven by gains across major sectors. However, the US market faced losses as the Fed reiterated concerns over elevated inflation despite softening its language on future rate hikes. Signs of returning contagion fears in regional US banks also weighed on the global market mood,” said Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services.

15:17 (IST) 4 May 2023 HDFC share price jumps over 2% after net profit rises 18% on-year

HDFC share price jumped 2.65% to Rs 2862.5 after the company announced its net profit for the fourth quarter at Rs 7,623.58 crore, up 18% from Rs 6,458.51 crore in the same quarter last year. The board also announced an interim dividend of Rs 44 per equity share of face value of Rs 2 each for the financial year ended March 2023, compared to a final dividend of Rs 30 per equity share in the previous year.

FMCG major Dabur’s shares slip 1.7% to Rs 529.1 in trade on disappointing Q4FY23 earnings result. The net profit dropped 0.5% on-year at Rs 292.7 crore while revenue was Rs 2,678 crore.

The share price of Adani Group’s flagship firm Adani Enterprises gained up to 4% today to touch Rs 1,912.7 per equity share ahead of the earnings results announcement for the quarter ended March. Adani Enterprises’ shares have seen heightened volatility over the past few months as a result of the controversial Hindenburg Research report. The report – alleging that the Group and leader, Gautam Adani willingly manipulated stock prices, misled investors and misused shell corporations – was disseminated on 24 January.

After showing consistent up moves in the last six sessions, Nifty shifted into a minor profit-booking mode on Wednesday and closed the day lower by 57 points. The short-term trend of Nifty seems to have cooled off after a decent upside movement. There  is a possibility of further consolidation or minor weakness for the next 1-2 sessions before  showing an upside bounce from the higher lows. Immediate support is at 17900 levels.

09:07 (IST) 4 May 2023 Crude prices fall over 1%

Oil prices fell over 1% on Thursday, deepening steep losses in recent days, after the U.S. Federal Reserve increased interest rates and investors worried about a weakening global economy that could dent energy demand. Brent futures fell 76 cents, or 1.1%, to $71.57 a barrel by 0002 GMT.  U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude (WTI) fell $1, or 1.5%, to $67.60 a barrel. This marked the lowest settling figure for both benchmarks since December 2021. Both Brent and WTI have fallen over 10% since the start of this week.
