Karnataka logs 74 fresh Covid-19 cases, two deaths
Karnataka on Tuesday reported 74 fresh cases of Covid-19 and two coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24 hours. This takes the total number of active cases in the state to 464, a Health bulletin said. With this, the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in the state after the recent spike in cases stands at 9.
Explosions reported in Red Sea shipping lane off Yemen coast
Explosions in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen were reported on Tuesday after sightings of unmanned aircraft and missiles in two separate incidents, a British maritime authority said. Two unmanned aircraft were observed before two explosions occurred 5 nautical miles from a vessel located 50 nautical miles west of Hodeidah on Yemen’s west coast, United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations authority said in an advisory. Pakistan’s election body accepts Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers
Pakistan’s former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers have been accepted by the Election Commission despite questions on his eligibility to contest the February 8 general elections in the wake of ‘life-long disqualification’ by the apex court. “PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers for NA-130 (National Assembly seat from Lahore) have been accepted by the Election Commission,” Sharif’s lawyer Amjad Pervez told reporters on Tuesday. Navy’s MiG-29K aircraft suffers tyre burst at Dabolim airport
A fighter aircraft of the Indian Navy suffered a tyre burst on the taxiway at the Dabolim airport in Goa on Tuesday afternoon, just before it was to undertake a routine sortie, officials said. Due to the tyre burst, the aircraft – MiG-29K – got stranded on the taxiway, but nobody was injured. As a result of the incident, the authorities shut the airport’s runway for operations till 4 pm, affecting the services of passenger flights, they said. (PTI)

Russian naval ship in Crimea damaged in airstrike by Ukrainian forces
A Russian naval ship in Crimea was damaged in an airstrike by Ukrainian forces, Russia’s Defence Ministry said Tuesday. The landing ship Novocherkassk was hit at a base in the city of Feodosia by plane-launched guided missiles, the ministry said. The ministry said two Ukrainian fighter jets were destroyed by anti-aircraft fire during the attack.
