UP fog alert: One dead, dozens injured in six-vehicle pile-up on Agra-Lucknow Expressway

At least one person died while two dozen others were injured when low visibility due to fog led to a pile-up involving six vehicles on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in the Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

The incident occurred when a double-decker bus lost control due to poor visibility and struck the central divider leading to the collision of at least six vehicles with each other in a chain reaction, triggering a series of rear-end crashes involving other vehicles, police said.

While one passenger succumbed to injuries at the scene of the accident, 24 others sustained serious injuries and were initially treated at the local Community Health Centre.

Six among them, deemed critically injured, were transferred to the Trauma Center in Lucknow for specialised care.

Police and emergency responders swiftly arrived at the crash site, working to clear the wreckage and provide assistance to the injured. An investigation into the cause of the collision is underway.

Notably, on the day of the incident, dense fog blanketed the region, reducing visibility to near zero.

In a separate incident, that occurred on Bareli-Sultanpur Highway in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, a high-speed truck collided with a house due to dense fog. Although no injuries were reported, there was property damage.
