15:57 (IST) 17 Mar 2023 Bank Nifty likely to underperform Nifty; Bank Nifty Buy-39000 – Stop Loss-38800 – Target-39400/39600
“The outlook remains negative on the Indian indices from a medium-term perspective. The Bank Nifty index is likely to underperform the Nifty index going forward as well. The Nifty private bank index and financial service index have given a major breakdown which will lead to selling pressure among all the financial stocks. One should keep a sell-on-rise approach on the Bank Nifty index with strong resistance at 40000. Nifty Buy at 17000, stop loss at 16800, target-17200. Bank Nifty buy at 39000, stop loss at 38800, target-39400/ 39600,” said Kunal Shah, Senior Technical & Derivative analyst at LKP Securities.
15:56 (IST) 17 Mar 2023 Pause in rate hikes could undermine banking stocks’ outperformance; Bank Nifty targets – 40690-41700
“Nifty Bank outperformed Nifty over the last 1 year as rising interest rates led to better margins for banks in general. However, the next 6 months could see a pause in interest rate hikes and hence potentially banking stocks’ outperformance could be undermined. 38000-38400 will be a strong support zone for Nifty Bank and investors can buy for targets of 40690-41700 in the near term,” said A R Ramachandran from Tips2trades.
