On New Year’s Eve, Delhi Police released a traffic advisory aimed at facilitating uninterrupted traffic across the city. Specifically, restrictions are enforced in the vicinity of Connaught Place starting from 8 pm on December 31 until the culmination of New Year celebrations. These measures encompass both private and public vehicles.

Traffic diversion

The advisory outlines restricted areas for vehicle movement towards Connaught Place, encompassing several key locations like Mandi House roundabout, Bengali Market roundabout, Ranjit Singh Flyover’s north foot, Minto Road – Deen Dayal Upadhaya Marg crossing, Chelmsford Road, Munje Chowk near New Delhi Railway Station, RK Ashram Marg – Chitragupta Marg Crossing, Gole Market roundabout, New Delhi GPO roundabout, Patel Chowk, Kasturba Gandhi Road – Ferozshah Road Crossing, Jai Singh Road – Bangla Sahib Lane, Panchkuian Road – Bangla Sahib Lane, Windsor Place roundabout, Buta Singh Marg roundabout, and State Entry Road near New Delhi Railway Station.

Know these Parking Diversions

Motorbike parking spots listed around Connaught Place include areas near Gole Dak Khana, Patel Chowk, Mandi House, Minto Road, Panchkuian Road, Chitragupta Road, Basant Road, KG Marg – Ferozshah Road Crossing, and KG Marg – C Hexagon. Parking is also available near Bengali Market roundabout, Windsor Place, Gole Market, Service Road along Bhai Veer Singh Marg and RK Ashram Road, and Buta Singh roundabout on Jantar Mantar Road and Raisina Road. Limited parking at Connaught Place will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Violators in restricted areas will face towing and prosecution.

Commuters are advised alternative routes between different city areas, suggesting paths for North-South and East-West movements. Specific roads like Najafgarh Road, Outer Ring Road, Ring Road, Mathura Road, among others, are to be avoided.

Warnings about traffic congestion due to New Year’s Eve celebrations at Ambience Mall Vasant Kunj and in Aerocity are issued, with suggestions for alternative routes to Gurugram and IGI Airport.

Stringent measures against traffic violations such as drunken driving, over-speeding, stunt biking, and reckless driving are highlighted. Surveillance cameras are in place for identification and prosecution of offenders. Increased police presence is expected during the celebrations to maintain order.

A senior traffic official urges Delhi residents to plan travel, use public transport, and comply with traffic rules for a safe and enjoyable New Year’s Eve celebration.

250 Delhi Traffic Police teams to be deployed

Authorities have disclosed plans to deploy 2,500 police personnel to facilitate smooth vehicular movement and designate 250 teams specifically tasked with monitoring drunken driving incidents on New Year’s Eve.

Special Commissioner of Police (traffic), SS Yadav, informed the news agency PTI that traffic regulations toward Connaught Place will be implemented after 8 pm on Sunday. Adequate personnel will be strategically stationed in high footfall areas to regulate traffic flow accordingly.

Yadav specified, “Approximately 2,500 traffic personnel will ensure seamless vehicular movement, and 250 teams will be vigilant in checking drunken driving. Additionally, approximately 450 motorcycles will be stationed at various locations.”

He emphasized a zero-tolerance policy toward dangerous or stunt driving and improper parking, stating, “Vehicles found parked improperly will be towed away.” The police will utilize alcometers to determine alcohol levels in individuals, ensuring strict enforcement against driving under the influence of alcohol.

Nodia Trafficadvisory for New Year’s eve

The Noida Police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of New Year’s Eve, warning the public about upcoming diversions near crowded markets and shopping malls on December 31.

They emphasized strict enforcement, including hefty fines and vehicle seizures, for violators, especially those driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

In the advisory, the police detailed traffic arrangements and diversions to alleviate congestion on roads during the celebration. Diversions will be implemented near Sector 18 market and various shopping complexes like Greater Indian Place, DLF Mall of India, Gardens Galleria, Centre Stage Mall, Logix, Spectrum, Starling Edge, SkyOne, and Advant Navis in Noida. Similar measures will be in place near Ansal, Venice Mall, Gaur City Mall, Pari Chowk, and Jagat Farm in Greater Noida.

Motorists were urged to use designated parking areas and avoid leaving vehicles on roads or unauthorized spots. The police also provided a traffic helpline number (9971009001) for assistance in case of traffic-related issues and encouraged the use of alternative routes to minimize inconvenience.
